MAUK Community Wheels

September 6

Dear Members, Friends, and Well-Wishers,

Over the past few years, the MAUK Director Board has reviewed how our activities are evolving and what improvements are needed to support our growing community.

Our Elders Centre provides social connection and wellbeing. Our supplementary and cultural classes connect children and young people from different boroughs. Our cultural programmes are increasing participation. While encouraging, this growth brings logistical challenges with transportation being a main concern.

Many elders rely on family or volunteers to attend the Elders Centre, and parents arrange lifts for children. Volunteers often use their own vehicles for events and activities. While goodwill is greatly appreciated, it is not sustainable.

The Board has launched the MAUK Community Wheels Project to raise funds for a 17-seater minibus to support activities.

The purpose is simple:
* To support elders attend the Elders Centre more often
* Reduce travel burdens for families
* Support event logistics and outreach
* Provide community-owned transportation

This investment aims to ensure MAUK’s future stability and accessibility.

We are organising a community raffle with the following prizes:
* 1st: £1,000
* 2nd: £500
* 3rd: £250
* Ten £50 restaurant vouchers

We greatly acknowledge and appreciate Shan Properties, Adam Short Stay, DeNova Solicitors, and Chai Kadai Restaurants for sponsoring the Raffle prizes.

Tickets cost £5, with proceeds going to the Community Wheels Project.

On behalf of the MAUK Director Board, I invite you to support this initiative, whether by buying tickets or spreading the word. Your support strengthens our organisation.
MAUK advances through collective effort. With your help, we can take this necessary step forward.

With sincere thanks
Mr Sreejith Sreedharan
Chairperson
Malayalee Association of the UK (MAUK)
