Dear MAUK supporters,

After the devastating floods of 2018, MAUK raised over £50000 from the generous Malayalee community in the UK. With these funds and additional contributions, we have built three water treatment plants and nine homes for those in greatest need. Every penny we spent on these projects was accounted for and independently audited.

Yet again, tragedy has struck in Kerala. The mudslide in Wayanad has claimed hundred of lives, with many more still missing. Countless homes have been swept away, leaving numerous people homeless. Livelihoods and livestock were destroyed, severely impacting many on their road to recovery.

We applaud the heroic efforts of the relief workers who are tirelessly working around the clock to save lives and bring comfort to the survivors. The people affected by this tragedy need all the help they can get, and we have a moral responsibility to support them on their path back to normalcy.

Drawing from our past experiences, we recognise that after the initial chaos subsides, the most vulnerable individuals—who lack political influence—often fall through the cracks and are forgotten. This is why MAUK is again doing its part to assist those impacted by this disaster.

As before, we will utilise the funds for projects with lasting impacts on the lives of those affected. With the guidance and oversight of the district collector’s office and our contacts on the ground, we aim to undertake projects that will bring comfort to families and communities devastated by the disaster. We will pool our resources and funds with other like-minded organisations to maximise benefits for the recipients. In addition, MAUK will match every donation received. We have also earmarked all profits from our forthcoming ‘MAUK Swayam Ponnonam 2024’ towards this cause.
